Idaho, known as the "Gem State," is a landlocked state in the Pacific Northwest, famous for its stunning natural landscapes, including mountains, rivers, and vast wilderness areas. The state's capital and largest city is Boise. Idaho is renowned for its agricultural output, particularly potatoes, and is home to diverse natural resources, including hot springs and national parks. The state features the Snake River, which runs through Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in the U.S., and Shoshone Falls, which is higher than Niagara Falls. Idaho's landscape is characterized by rugged mountains, scenic lakes, and expansive forests, making it a popular destination for outdoor recreation such as hiking, fishing, and skiing. Historically, Idaho was inhabited by Native American tribes and later became a significant area during the westward expansion of the United States.
